Jack Black Dancing to ‘WAP’ on Instagram Brings the Internet Joy

Every once in a while an internet video comes around and sparks joy among everyone who sees it. This week that video has come courtesy of Jack Black.

The energetic actor is known for his explosive displays of singing and dancing in his movies but now the School of Rock star is taking his moves to social media.

The now-iconic “WAP” dance took the world by storm this summer as the Cardi B and Megan Tee Stallion anthem intrigued and appalled in equal measure.

In a crossover no one expected, Black took on the “WAP” dance challenge from TikTok and the results are joyful.

In a video posted to Instagram, the Tenacious D singer worked the raunchy dance moves in a pair of speedos while being sprayed with water from a hose.

The 51-year-old mastered the kicks, squats, windmills, humping and other sexy moves whilst being doused with water.

Black received praise from some his high profile fans. Actor Robert Downey Jr. commented: “Get it!” While Public Enemy added: “Nice windmill.”

The Hangover star Ed Helms wrote: “How dare you NOT do this on the giant trampoline behind you?!” Meanwhile, actor Colin Hanks added: “Absolutely stunning. Just perfect.”

Joel McHale of Community fame added: “This is the best thing that ever happened.”

And Naomi Watts simply replied: “Owning it!”

Over on Twitter, Black’s moves have unsurprisingly caused a stir.

“Watching Jack Black do the WAP dance is the laugh I needed this morning,” read one tweet by journalist Erick Fernandez.

A separate tweet read: “This video from @jackblack is what everyone needs to wake up to and get their day started.”

“WAP” caused a massive stir when it was released this year. The catchy acronym stands for “Wet A** P****” which did not go down well with some listeners, including many high profile conservatives.

Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson asked what such lyrics would do to the minds of the nations’ children.

“That’s garbage. You don’t need to be a puritan to think so. It’s garbage,” he said on his show in August. It’s aimed at young American girls—maybe your girls, your granddaughters, and what is it doing to them? Can you imagine what it’s doing to them?”

Responding to the backlash, Cardi B said: “I always encourage people to be confident, especially when it comes to your sexuality. Some of these men are uncomfortable, they’re not even comfortable being sensual,” she said.
