Kitten Sleeping Like a ‘Tiny Human’ Delights the Internet: ‘Precious’

Kitten Sleeping Like a ‘Tiny Human’ Delights the Internet: ‘Precious’

Still new to the world, a tiny kitten is sending the Internet into stitches with her unique, humanlike way of sleeping.

The viral Reddit post, shared to the subreddit “Cats,” is titled, “My 54-day-old kitten has been sleeping like this a lot in recent days,” receiving 9,100 upvotes. Redditor @Hikari-Nogami on May 12 shared the post that featured four images of their cat sleeping, but she wasn’t curled up in a furball or stretched out on her belly…or any other typical cat pose.

The grey and white kitten was lying flat on her back, whiskey chin and white belly pointed straight to the Heavens, front paws relaxed and straight by her sides, back feet stretched out and politely crossed at the ankles.

According to Statista, 32 percent of pet owners have a cat in the United States as of 2020. The website also reports that in the same year, 36 percent of people 18 to 29 years of age who participated in a survey owned a cat.

The photos featured the zonked-out kitten on a brightly colored carpet at various angles.

In the first image, the camera was close to her face, highlighting every whisker in the light from a nearby window.

The next photos showed the kitten lying down on her back again, but this time her entire body was in view. Her stomach was exposed to the elements as she crossed her bottom legs together as she slept soundly.

The final image was a closer look at the kitten, who had her mouth slightly open as she slept.

Redditor Reactions

Over 200 comments poured in over the viral kitten sleeping like a human, and people can’t seem to get enough.

She had such a long day at work.

Reddit comment

The images prompted jokes from some Redditors. “She had such a long day at work,” a Redditor said. The original poster (OP) replied, “I did just finish playing with her as she falls asleep on the carpet.”

One Redditor revealed they can “relate” to the kitten,” adding, “I never thought I’d be a back-sleeper, but I like it more the older I get.”

Another user wondered how the OP can “resist” the kitten’s stomach, insisting, “I would be so tempted to just smush my entire face into it every chance I got.” The OP replied that they have the kitten’s brother “to play with” as well.

The whole position itself… How damn safe does this cat feel?

Others think the way the cat is lying shows the feline feels safe in her surroundings. “The whole position itself… How damn safe does this cat feel?” a Redditor asked.

Apparently, the behavior isn’t new for some cat owners. “This is true trust!” a user pointed out. “Your kitten trusts you, and she’s tired, lol. I call this ‘peopling’ when my one cat lays around or falls asleep like this.”

Appreciation for the viral kitten was everywhere. “Kitties are individuals just like us, and each has their bestest sleeping position they like,” a Reddit user figured.

This isn’t the only viral moment involving cats. A man was backed for choosing his cat over his girlfriend.

Another cat fell asleep instantly in a bowl in a cute clip.

And yet another cat who sits like he is “traumatized” has the Internet in stitches.
