‘Save the students, shut down schools now’: Sindh Investment website hacked

The Sindh Investment website was hacked on Tuesday by an anonymous person, who urged the government to “shut down the schools now” as coronavirus cases across the country surge.

“Hacked By Anonymous. This is a warning message to Pakistan Government,” screams the message when one opens https://sindhinvestment.gos.pk/

“Student Lives are no joke! Shut the Schools down now. Students are the real assests of a country, don’t destroy your assets,” read the message by the hacker.

The website was hacked a few hours after Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that schoolchildren will not be granted winter vacations this year.

The provincial minister had said students have been given more holidays than usual this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sindh investment department’s website hacked

A website (https://sindhinvestment.gos.pk/) belonging to the investment department of the government of Sindh was hacked by anonymous hackers as a result of a cyber-attack on Tuesday evening.

The hackers who appear to be students also posted a message on the website which said, “Students’ lives are not a joke, shut the schools down now, Students are the real assets of a country, don’t destroy your assets”.

The demand came hours after the provincial government decided against shutting down schools despite an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases in the province.

 

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani earlier in the day had ruled out the possibility of an early winter vacations this year owing to virus upsurge.
