students who have found themselves spending an unplanned
summer in New Zealand now have a new tool to help them
experience more of Aotearoa.

Launched today (December
2), BeKiwi is a web platform that offers a curated selection
of the best experiences from around Northland and Auckland,
specifically designed to help international students better
connect with New Zealand people and culture.

The
site’s developers are looking to expand the site to become
nationwide by next June.

The idea for BeKiwi emerged
in response to concerns that some international students
were struggling to find opportunities to easily connect with
local people, places, and experiences.

The original
concept for BeKiwi was developed by Whangārei strategy and
marketing company Level, and with support from Northland
Inc, the company was successful in attracting funding from
the Ministry of Education International Student Wellbeing

Microsoft has released .NET 5.0, the latest major release in its .NET development platform which, amongst other updates, introduces the new C# 9 programming language.

.NET 5.0 is the first update to the platform since Microsoft announced that it would unify its developer toolset across platforms and operating systems. LONDON — Tim Berners-Lee, the English computer scientist best known as the inventor of the world wide web, has revealed that his latest start-up has launched a privacy platform for enterprises. The U.K.’s National Health Service, the BBC, NatWest Bank and the Flanders Government are among its early adopters.

Inrupt, founded by Berners-Lee and CEO John Bruce in 2018, is aiming to develop technology that gives people control of their data, allowing them to choose where their data is stored and who has access to it.

The start-up announced Monday that it had launched an enterprise version of its Solid platform. Built with scientists at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Solid allows users to create Personal Online Data Stores, or Pods, that they can then share with third party-apps if they wish.

Founded earlier this year, Nektar has been working in stealth mode with five companies, and has plans for an early adopter release before a public launch by the end of 2021.
