Confirming earlier reports, Apple officially announced a third product launch event for this fall, after holding separate events for new iPads and Apple Watches in September and the latest iPhones in October. The upcoming event headlined ‘One More Thing’ in reference to Steve Jobs’ famous practice of saving best for last, will be held virtually on November 10 and is all but certain to be about new MacBooks using Apple’s own chips as opposed to Intel processors, which Apple has been using since 2006.
In the recently ended fiscal year 2020, the company was formerly known as Apple Computer generated $28.6 billion in revenue selling what it was originally named after computers. And while that makes Apple’s Mac business of 2020 more than four times as large as it was at the turn of the century, selling

Video game stocks are at the forefront of the stay-at-home surge.
Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard was the first to gauge the trend’s third-quarter strength when it reported earnings Thursday after the bell. The company’s shares fell nearly 6% in after-hours trading as investors took issue with a decline in monthly active users despite a top- and bottom-line beat.
One trader was expecting solid results from Activision.
“I like the setup for Activision going into earnings,” Nancy Tengler, chief investment officer at Laffer Tengler Investments, told CNBC’s “Trading Nation” on Thursday ahead of the report.
She noted that Activision was down about 1.6% heading into the report versus the Nasdaq Composite’s nearly 2% gain.
“I think the company benefits from digital gaming consoles, it is going to improve already robust margins of 77.5%, I believe, and the company has done a great job of beating on revenues 17 out

Microsoft accounts will be required to all “Minecraft” players starting next year
Microsoft, through Xbox Game Studios, purchased “Minecraft” developer Mojang Studios in 2014
Features offered with Microsoft accounts include two-factor authentication and improved parental controls
“Minecraft” players without Microsoft accounts will no longer be able to play the game next year.
Since it was launched in 2011, “Minecraft” has had two separately developed versions. The original “Minecraft: Java Edition” used Mojang accounts for developer Mojang Studios while “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition” used Microsoft accounts for the console and Windows store version.
When the change announced on the official “Minecraft” blog is implemented, the accounts will be the same but cross-play between the two versions will not be allowed. It is a move that some expected to happen years ago since Mojang Studios was acquired by Microsoft through Xbox Game Studios back in 2014.
Minecraft players have been able to play without a Microsoft account for the past six years that the company has owned the game, but that will change in 2021, the official Minecraft blog announced yesterday. Players who own the original version of the game and do not switch to a Microsoft account will be unable to play.
The gamehasexisted in two separately developed versions since its 2011 launch on consoles. Previously, the original Minecraft: Java Edition used Mojang accounts, while Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, the name for the console and Windows store version of the game, used Microsoft accounts. After this change, the accounts will be the same, but there’s still no crossplay: you still won’t be able to play with friends using the other version of the game.
